Yesterday was our annual No Rules group's Christmas in July party. We are all doll makers and even though this is a mixed media group we picked out a name without revealing that name a few months ago and made a doll for that person. Well Spring has certainly arrived in my back yard. I have a pretty small back yard, just a few very large spruce trees where the birds love to nest, they are almost like apartment buildings for birds. Some birds like to own the whole building (tree) like the cardinals, they like their privacy. It seems that the trees were full this year so this little Robin had to find accomodations elsewhere.

Well, I made some new legs for my Sherry Goshen Personal Challenge Doll (that's a mouthful!). I really like these, probably because of the pink, but what started them off was this piece of dupioni silk that I had. Well, Sunday as I was working on my challenge doll for Sherry's group I totally ruined the legs! I couldn't believe it. I saved the boots, I really like those. I keep forgetting to write about my hearts. This is a swap on Sherry's group. Sherry designed an adorable doll called "Key to My Heart" and her skirt is made from hearts. Well, the swap is to make 1 to 3 hearts from the pattern and we will have a swap. Actually the deadline is next week so I need to put the felt backings on! These were a lot of fun to make. Well, I've finally finished Belle. She is a doll designed by Cindee Moyer and I started her 2 years ago but never made her. My other doll club, the Doll Gatherers in Aurora, OH made little elfs from Allison Marano's pattern - Ghillie Guerkin. Allison designed this little guy as a "Brownie" but it was decided that we would make him as an elf. Last night I finished sewing on Morris' hat and shoes. He sure was a lot of work but a very fun doll to make. Now for all the froo-froo!! I have a lot of trims but I think I need more that are a little smaller. He needs small trims, medium and large scale, for me that is hard to get right but we'll see where it goes. Well, after much moving of things and re-doing of things, Morris has his jacket finished! I had to move his over-vest closer to the center, or the jacket would have covered it. I've put Morris' vests on and I really like them. The only problem is that I think I put the overvest on where it is open too much. It is just tacked on so it will be easy to move. Yesterday I went to AFIC with Rosemarie, her husband Don and my husband Ed. It was fabulous! We got there around noon so while they were out of class I got to see a lot of friends and people I haven't seen for a while. Well, I finished a new doll, Dorinda which was designed by Barbara Schoenoff. She was a lot of fun to make. Well, in my last posting I had some nice pictures of the Doll Gatherers' beautiful display at the Sewing Expo in Cleveland at the I-X Center. Pam, Rosemarie and I went to the I-X center for the Sewing Expo. We had a great time walking up and down the aisles looking at all the beautiful fabrics, trims, fibers and whichevers.
