I am still making the snapshots quilt, I've even caught up! But at this time it is a slow process, one block a month although I have joined another block of the month - mystery block, it's a Christmas one. I don't think at this time my quilting is worthy of a blog, nor do I have the inclination toEnchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-20945266396352490002015-04-17T12:02:00.002-04:002015-04-17T12:02:44.215-04:00Not sewing dolls for a whileI won't be making any new dolls for a while. We are in the process of selling our house and almost all of my sewing room is in a storage unit! I miss my stuff. Anyway, I did keep out my sewing machine and some essentials, just enough to tuck away in a closet if we have a showing. I have decided to try my hand at quilting.
I have started another blog "My Quilting Journey", it's mostly a journal toEnchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-80199487262857090112014-11-10T14:36:00.004-05:002014-11-10T14:38:32.951-05:00Houston Doll Exhibit - Hoffman Challenge and Gypsy Challenge WinnersThis is the last of the doll pictures that I have from Houston. It was my first time there and it was amazing. It has taken me a few days to write about it and I'll probably write a little each day (or so) because I am totally exhausted!!
There was so much to see, so much to do, and so much walking and standing. I met my friend Pam there, she moved to Denver a year and a half Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-29013170660251329262014-09-19T10:03:00.002-04:002014-09-19T10:03:56.830-04:00Been a whileWell, it certainly has been a while since I've posted. I should be a little more diligent about that. But I guess the fact is, there isn't much doll wise to post, but I do have a couple of things now.
We went to Alaska with my sister and brother-in-law in July for 2 weeks, so planning the trip was a lot a work and time consuming. We were also planning a remodel of our kitchen and baths andEnchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-56373119106390128822014-06-16T12:31:00.002-04:002014-06-16T12:31:43.843-04:00New Doll for my sister

This doll really spoke to me, it reminded me of a time long ago when I was a little girl. One of my favorite toys when I was little, was a horse head (not real, it was stuffed) on a stick (like a broom handle). I would ride and ride around the house and in the Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-17944781857601412042014-03-23T14:40:00.000-04:002014-03-23T14:40:14.577-04:00Etta: The Little One
This is a doll I have been wanting to make for about a year and a half, well, life does get in the way sometimes!
This is Etta, designed by Leslie Molen. She is just a very sweet doll. I had bought the hankie for her apron a year and a half ago when I went to Denver with my friend Pam, who has since moved there. We went to take a class with Leslie, her Ling Li Doll and the carry box Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-87081183805599037612014-02-26T10:01:00.001-05:002014-02-26T10:01:34.670-05:00A New DollWell it has been a while since I've written a post. More than that I can't believe I haven't made a doll since September. Not sure what I have been doing all that time, I guess I just wasn't in the mood with this long and depressing winter. Then there were holidays, birthdays, anniversary and a few health issues. But I seem to have my doll making energy back. I'll see how long that lasts - Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-31452865713786360712013-11-05T12:43:00.002-05:002013-11-05T12:43:58.514-05:00Follow up on doll exhibit in HoustonI received an email today letting me know my doll that I made for the Houston Quilt Show will be on her way home tomorrow.
The Material Girls have put pictures of all the dolls on their flickr site and all the dolls are just so amazing. I really need to go to Houston next year to see this exhibit as well as all the amazing quilts.
Just wanted to put up the address to see the dolls, for anyone Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-87424118291459282232013-10-31T11:20:00.002-04:002013-10-31T11:22:14.904-04:00Exhibition doll for the Houston International Quilt Festival

"Waiting Up"
I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted. I haven't been totally slacking off though. So, ok... I told you about Ed's eye surgery, well a few weeks after the doctor gave him the "all is good" the retina detached again. Scar tissue had built up and pulled off the other side of the retina. He was at the Optometrist getting a contact lens for the eyeEnchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-63898900862957099202013-08-28T14:06:00.000-04:002013-08-28T14:06:41.817-04:00Waiting Up doll class - chairI finished my chair. That was a lot of fun to make. Even though it was a little painful I enjoyed the hand sewing, and there was a lot. The chair arms and the cording was hot glued on and that was a bit of a mess. My glue gun is ancient and cheap, I need to invest in something better. I'm pleased with the way it came out. My doll for the Houston International Quilt show is laying in pieces on my sewing table. I have her all made in my head which really doesn't help. I need to work on her but I wanted to start this class.
If you haven't seen this class, it is a doll by Cindee Moyer named "Waiting Up" where the doll falls Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-87047021701473612962013-08-20T13:39:00.001-04:002013-08-21T22:13:06.731-04:00New doll for a friendI was going along pretty well finishing up my WIPS, but then my grandson came to visit, a few days later we went on vacation and a few days after returning home my husband had surgery for a detached retina. After surgery he was in bed for 2 weeks, face down and I had all the house duties plus waiting on him and giving his medications and taking care of our crazy dogs. I was a bit stressed. But, Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-27572914023055592772013-07-16T10:39:00.000-04:002013-07-16T10:39:02.786-04:00I Hope You Dance - finished!
This is my latest doll that I have finished. The poor thing has been sitting around for a year and a half. She was about 80% done, but then got pushed to the side for other projects.
She was an online class and is designed by Cindee Moyer and called I Hope You Dance. I'm really happy with the way she turned out. It's funny, I had to take her head off after it was all done and replace it. I finished my Mystery Doll!! She is a doll created by Colleen Babcock last fall. Colleen was so generous to design this doll and sell it for $3 originally and the doll was revealed in chapters each week on a Yahoo Group. It wasn't intended to be an online class, but poor Colleen, it kind of ended up that way. It was intended to be revealed little by little then a picture of the Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-76350888822977354952013-06-11T12:29:00.000-04:002013-06-11T12:37:01.201-04:00WIP finished!!
Dress Rehersal with Mask
My former doll club, Time For Dolls, brought in a teacher every year and last year in October we had Christine Shively who taught Dress Rehearsal. She was a fun doll to make, but oh so detailed! You could make one of two sizes, I chose to make the bigger doll, just because I like bigger dolls and I thought this doll would be a lot easier to work with if it was Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-7688785067232084232013-06-04T18:03:00.001-04:002013-06-04T18:05:44.916-04:00Princess and the Pea
The Princess and the Pea
I finished my Princess and the Pea doll, designed by Cindee Moyer. It was from an online class at Joggles that was a Christmas gift from my husband.
It was a lot of fun to make, so many different techniques.
The bed is made of wire then covered with pages from an old book and mod podge, then I painted it silver metallic but that was way too bright so I dry Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-10363814804111137122013-04-14T13:18:00.002-04:002013-04-14T13:18:39.224-04:00Lillian and Max - Finished!
I finally finished my Lillian and Max doll. This was an online class that was taught by Cindee Moyer. It was a Christmas gift from my husband. So I dropped everything I was working on and worked on this doll. It took a little longer than it should have because the dog is clay. I've only used clay a couple of times so it really gave me pause (or paws, pun intended!). But I finally worked Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-11649659097914147802013-03-22T10:31:00.000-04:002013-03-22T10:31:46.101-04:00Lillian continued...
Here is Lillian finished. I thought this fabric would be great for her coat. She has pearl-like buttons down the front, and is sporting a feather collar and cuffs. Although as I look at these pictures, the feathers seem to be "out of control"! But they don't look like that in person. I took a close up of her boots. It took me a week to make them and they are painted on but have a heel made of Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-7980971453421984852013-03-11T10:01:00.000-04:002013-03-11T10:01:29.391-04:00New DollI haven't posted anything for a while, but after I got over my winter blues in December and January where I didn't even walk into my sewing room and was sick for 3 weeks in February, I am sewing again.
I decided not to go to any doll classes or workshops this year since I went to so many last year, I got a little burnt out (and poor!). So my plan was to finish the dolls that are at least Enchanted Doll Makerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17124344968953925430noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3427518972294342304.post-6685233771708954802013-01-27T17:17:00.000-05:002013-01-27T17:17:05.293-05:00Not about dolls, but had to share...
